BGHV Weekend, March 11th: BearAlbany Rocks, RENT sweeps Rhinebeck & Big Gay Dodgeball

Hey all – welcome to the weekend! Lots of good stuff coming up this weekend and even though we don’t have a listing for Sunday activities, lots of these (shows, movies & BearAlbany) are going on all weekend, so get out of the house and join ’em!

As we mentioned last week, this Saturday is the 3rd Annual Gala Fundraiser for the Hudson Valley LGBTQ Community Center. If you haven’t picked up your tickets yet, please consider joining us for this amazing night to benefit a fantastic cause in our growing community.

If you’re looking for something a bit more…high impact, shall we say, a Big Gay Dodgeball league is shaping up at All Sport Fishkill! If you’re interested in tossing your balls around with the boys, join them tonight at their first meeting and learn more about it.

Next weekend we’re packing up for the Big Apple – the annual GLBT Expo in NYC’s Javitt’s Center is the year’s premier event for all things big and gay. We’ll be there with Dutchess County & Ulster County Tourism showing them just how amazing our backyard is. If you’re planning on going drop us a line, we’d love to see you there!

Friday March 12th

“A Single Man” @ Upstate Films, Rhinebeck @ varies
Tom Ford’s acclaimed hit “A Single Man” tells the story of a gay man who loses his partner to AIDS before we really knew what that meant. RENT Opening Night @ The Center for Performing Arts, Rhinebeck @ 8p
The smash Broadway classic is coming to The Center for a two week run that is not to be missed. Following a rag-tag group of friends through the ups and downs of life, death, love & loss, the story’s classic messages and unmistakable gay themes have won the hearts of audiences the world over. BearAlbany’s “Bears Rock” Weekend Kick-Off @ Waterworks Pub, Albany @ 9p
The bears are out of hibernation for another weekend in Albany – and this time they’re ready to rock! Join the hairy and their admirers for their kickoff rock-n-roll edition of Bearaoke at Waterworks. They’ll be hosting a leather swap meet and dancing the night away.
