Cirque De Ballet

Prepare to be dazzled, amazed and thrilled by the theatrical and fantastical magic of Cirque de Ballet.  This one night only spectacular will touch down in Poughkeepsie on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the Bardavon Opera House with shows at 2:00 and 6:30 p.m.

Special Guest Artist Randy Kato, a member of Team USA at the 2016 Wheel Gymnastics World Championships, will delight young and old alike with his daring Cyr Wheel feats of flight.  “This new theatrical production is jammed full of old time circus antics and powered by new wave dancing dynamics and Cyr Wheel fun.” said Susan Santoro, Artistic Director for Poughkeepsie City Ballet.  Rounding out the talent and adding their unique blend of showmanship and technical bravado are students from New York Academy of Ballet along with the Barefoot Monkeys of Vassar College and organist Juan Cardona, Jr. playing his favorite circus tunes on the majestic Bardavon Wurlitzer.  An extra special treat awaits all when AJ Buchanan, NPC Bodybuilding Champion, joins the circus to help local showman extraordinaire, Jarrett Kuklis, open the show with a rousing rendition of Join the Circus.

Area graduating seniors from Poughkeepsie Day School, Arlington, John Jay, Spackenkill and Chapel Field Christian High Schools will be featured in principle roles including Samantha Ambrosini as Esmeralda the Great Russian Ballerina, Maya Llanos as Queen Meerabai of the Nile, Illenia Jordan the Half-Bird, Half-Woman Princess Griselda, Charlotte Whittle-Dannels, the Tanzania Snake Charmer Princess Micay, Katherine Vrachopoulos as Mademoiselle Lilly, Leah Mozeshtam as the Illusionist and Anni Gundeck as Madame Zingara the Gypsy Fortune Teller.
