DSCN0028Happy 4th of July!

Thank you to everyone that turned out for our sold-our Big Gay Cruise to Bannerman’s Island last Saturday – amazingly enough it managed to only rain for a few minutes on the dock – and then we actually got some sunshine while we were on Pollepel Island. Tickets sold out so quickly, we are thinking about doing another cruise this September. Might you be interested in joining us? Please let us know.

For those of you who haven’t heard our news yet over Facebook, Stephan and Patrick are getting married! The ceremony is slated for August 1st and we couldn’t be more excited – not only about the opportunity to begin legally sharing our lives together, but also to be part of a program that’s sending a strong message to our state leadership that same-sex marriage is a movement that needs to happen in the Empire State.

With it being the Holiday weekend, there are fewer events than usual since so many of you are out of town – but that said, there is still some Big Gay fun to be had in the Hudson Valley this weekend. Here’s what’s good and what’s gay over the next couple of days:

Friday July 3rd

Women’s Discussion & Activity Group @ The Loft, White Plains @ 7:30pm

Frivolous Fridays @ Truman’s, New Paltz @ 8p
Come get your eat, dance and drink on at Truman’s. A restaurant, bar and club.

Filthy Fridays @ Primetime, Highland @ 9p
This week it’s a Red, White or Blue Underwear Contest.  Reduced cover before 10pm.  Miss Kandi Kisses hosts.  Music by DJ John Martin of Superior Sounds.

Happy Saturday, July 4th!

Tours of the John J. Harvey Fireboat, Poughkeepsie, All Day
Dutchess County Tourism will be hosting free hour-long tours of the historic John J. Harvey Fireboat setting off from Waryas Park in Poughkeepsie.  Tours leave on Friday & Saturday at 2:00, 4:00 & 6:00 and are first-come first-serve with a limited number of seats during each ride.  Following the rides from 6p to 9p, the Michael Dell Orchestra will perform in Waryas park.  The day will culminate just after sunset with a laser light show projected onto the waters sprayed by the fire boat and a fireworks show set off from Waryas Park.

Sunday July 5th

Stageworks on the Hudson Presents; Forbidden Broadway; Hudson, NY @ 2p
In the explosively funny off-Broadway smash hit that irreverently pokes, prods, teases and lampoons the Great White Way’s most famed musicals and celebrities… and always with love! Stageworks is one of the first regional theaters to produce this celebrated panoply of parodies spoofing Barbra Streisand, Mandy Patinkin, Liza Minelli and so many more from Fiddler to Hairspray! This show opened last weekend, and continues all this weekend!

Next weekend is a busy one, with a lot of events planned! Look for a special early edition of BGHV Weekend on Wednesday night to help you plan!

Have a great weekend!
