The Hudson Valley LGBTQ Community Center is hosting a Documentary Film Festival in celebration of June’s LGBTQ Pride Month.  Six different films will be shown all month long throughout June & July at the Center’s Apuzzo Hall (300 Wall Street, Kingston).  The films are open to the public with free admission (with a $10 suggested donation being accepted to benefit the Center).  For more information about the festival, visit the Center’s website, give them a call at (845) 331.5300 or check out the listings below.

Boy I Am promotes dialogue about transgender issues through a look at the experiences of three young trans men in New York City – Nicco, Norie and Keegan – as they go through major junctures in their transitions.

Living with Pride: Ruce C. Ellis @ 100.  Born July 23, 1899, in Springfield, Illinois, Ruth was the oldest known “out” African American lesbian.  In addition to exploring her rich past, the film offers a rare opportunity to experience a century of our history as lived by one inspiring woman.

Queer Streets takes a hip, gritty look at the reality of life on the street for LGBTQ youth.  Queer youth make up approximately 20 to 50 percent of the 20,000 homeless young people in New York City.

Through My Eyes provides an unflinchingly honest look at the role of young Christians in the debate over LGBTQ issues: what they really think, how they perceive he church, and what they wish other Christians knew.

In My Shoes follows five young students from gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender families as they share their ideas on marriage, making change and family.

Diagnosing Difference interviews scholars, activists, and artists who identify as transgender, transsexual, gender-queer or gender variant, about the impact and implications of Gender Identity Disorder (GID), a disorder diagnosed and trated by non-trans medical and mental health care professionals.
